OUR STORY

_____

I was 43 years old the first time I attempted to swing a golf club. I was standing on the practice range of a private country club in Bedminster, NJ. During my childhood years, societal prejudices and economic hurdles kept the game at bay from this small town Georgia boy. Now here I was, a senior-level corporate manager on a company outing, spraying golf balls all over the ground. It was ugly. I was done with golf. Well, until my son came along ....and this guy named Tiger Woods.

Our mutual fascination with Tiger began our golfing journey. It started with my son participating in the First Tee of Atlanta youth development program. 20 years later I would leave First Tee - Metro Atlanta, having served 8 years as its Executive Director.

During my many years of exposure to the game, I have seen the life changing advantages golf can provide; both to those who play, as well as those who work in the multi-faceted golf economy. My experiences inflamed a passion to introduce everyone, regardless of background and station in life, to golf’s personal, career and business enhancing potential. It is my hope that Fairway Opportunities Fore All gives many a chance to “dip their toe” in the waters of golf to see how they like it. I believe most will come through the experience with a personal connection, understanding how the game can benefit them for a lifetime. Whether you are wondering if this golf thing is for you or if you are already a part of the golf landscape, I invite you to join me on this journey. I look forward to hearing from you.
